February is a busy month at the Surry Arts Council with new Adult classes and workshops  throughout the month led by our new Artistic Directors Madi Chitty and Shelby Coleman. There are classes for all ages so be sure to see what else is available on the Youth Program & Workshops page.

  • Mount Airy Photography Club

  • Surry County Basket Makers

    Monthly on the second Tuesday at 7:00 pm
    Lower Level of the Andy Griffith Playhouse in the Siamese Twins Exhibit

    Members of the Basket Makers craft beautiful handmade baskets every month. Each meeting has a different instructor and topic, so material fees vary.

  • Golden Notes (Community Chorus)

    Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m., September - May

    This recreational singing group welcomes visitors to listen or sing old favorites with them each week. They serve as great ambassadors for the arts council singing in nursing homes, retirement centers, and the local hospital. The group is led by Sylvia Lowry, a performer and retired music educator.

  • Adult Line Dance Classes

    Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m., September - May

    Traci Artim leads this class which is open to adults of all ages. Come out and learn fun routines and get a low-impact workout! Free for SAC members - Join SAC for only $10.

    Surry County's premier auditioned chorale group, Vocé is supported in part by a Grassroots grant from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural & Cultural Resources.
